Trouble Shooting a Network See you on the other side…
Dec 26

Lots of people say that the “Desktop” is a bad thing but it’s really not. It’s a visual place for things that you are working on right now. Here’s a guy that snapped his work space everyday for the last year and made those images into a movie.Link

this isn’t so much areply to this article, pbut I didn’t see a ‘contact me’ link around here. So I’m a long time listener, first time poster! I love your podcast sir! I would love to hear a podcast on xcode and cocoa someday too, your show is awesome!

Yeah, “Macbreak Dev” has been in the works since around TWiM Episode 50, but since Macbreak tech turned into something else entirely, I’m wondering when Dev will appear, or whether the project will get shelved (again). From my benchmark tests, the desktop , on mac, is no different in terms of resources to any other folder, however, on windows, placing files on the desktop severely hampers explorer.exe, leading to a slower system.

Love the show, and the recent network troubleshooting episode could not have been more perfectly timed.

Okay, here’s hoping the (sincere!) compliment above will get me a pass on a little bit of pedantry:

“everyday” - an adjective form that should be modulating a noun
“every day” - an adverb form that modulates a verb (or an adjective).

So the title of this post should be “your desktop should change every day” (or, howzabout, “your desktop should change daily)

I know correcting spelling and grammar on the internets is wankeriffic, but I can’t help myself sometimes. Now I’m going to go find somebody to lecture about “its” vs. “it’s.”
